Website Visitor Statistics

A website statistics package is included in your hosting account providing 16 reports. Learn where traffic is originating and what guests on your site are searching for, plus what pages or categories they most often are viewing.

The following reports are provided with hosting accounts.

1) Successful Server Requests

The number of requests in which a document was returned (status code 200's or 304) including files such as pages, images, media files, and others.

2) Successful Requests for Pages  

The number of requests for a webpage.

3) Distinct Hosts Served

The number of unique computers to which data was sent.

4) Time Period Report

Shows the number of requests and page requests for a specified time period.

5) Host Report

The fifty most frequent computers or Internet Service Providers visiting the site.

6) Referring URL Report

Specific pages, on the Internet that link to pages on your site. This report may be helpful in determining where traffic is originating

7) Search Query Report

Shows the queries that your site's visitors have sent to search engines to find your site. Only the thirty most popular queries for search engines that have been defined and that provide this information in their referrer data are listed. This report is useful in determining what keywords visitors use and which search engines refer visitors to your site. Results are sorted by number of requests.

8) Search Word Report

A summary of the thirty most popular words that your visitors have asked search engines for that brought them to your site. You can use this to get a better idea of what your visitors are looking for when they come to your site. Results are sorted by number of requests.

9) Browser Report

Provides a detailed breakdown of the forty most popular Web browsers used to visit your site. Results are sorted by number of requests. From this report it is also possible to identify which operating system and which browser version the visitor is using. For example, Netscape Communicator 4.5, US English version running on Windows 95 would be reported as Mozilla/4.5 [en] (Win95; U). MSIE 4.01 running on Windows 98 would be reported as Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 4.01; Windows 98).

10) Browser Summary

Identifies the twenty most popular Web browser versions used to visit this site. Browsers are broken down by categories, e.g., Netscape Navigator/Communicator, Microsoft Internet Explorer, WebTV, and Opera. Within each category is a subgroup by version number, such as 'MSIE 5.0' or 'Netscape 4.5'. Results are sorted by number of requests.

11) Operating System Report

Identifies site visitors' operating systems, when provided.

12) Status Code Report

Lists alphabetically, all HTML headers returned to the client from the server. For example, a status '200 OK' means that the requested page or image was found and the server will now send it. A '404 Document Not Found' means that the requested page or image cannot be found on this server at the specified location. This can occur if the client mistyped a URL or clicks on a broken link.

13) File Size Report

Lists the size of requested files, which can be useful in optimizing site performance. (Remember that on a 28.8Kps modem, it will take on average of 40 seconds to download 100Kb of data.)

14) File Type Report

Identifies the type of information requested from the Web site. GIF and JPG are the two types of graphic (image) files that are most commonly supported by Web browsers. HTML (sometimes abbreviated HTM), ASP, and directories all represent actual pages. The number of image requests will almost always outnumber page requests, as one page may contain several images. This report shows results with at least 0.10 percent of the total bytes. Results are sorted by amount of bytes transferred.

15) Directory Report

Analyzes accesses to the site's directories. This information can determine the most requested areas. This report shows results with at least 0.01 percent of the total bytes and is sorted by amount of bytes transferred.

16) Request Report

Identifies the twenty most popular pages on the site and how often they were accessed. Results are sorted by number of requests.
